As the 2012 Main Event finale brings to a close another thrilling World Series Of Poker in Las Vegas, here are some key facts and results from the prestigious $10,000 No-Limit Main Event.
The Main Event first got started in 1971, and now US pro Greg Merson completes 35 wins from 42 Main Events for the USA. However, since 1990 when the first non-US player won the title, USA has won 15 from 22 titles.
The 43rd WSOP awarded Greg Merson the 5th largest Main Event prize of $8,531,853. The biggest prize money ever awarded was $12 million in 2006 for Jamie Gold, followed by the 2008 Winner Peter Eastgate ($9,152,416), 2010 winner Jonathan Duhamel ($8,944,138) and last year’s winner Pius Heinz for $8,715,638.
At around 19.5 hours of play, this year’s Main Event was the longest in WSOP history beating the previous record set in 2009 by Joe Cada of 17 hours and 16 minutes.
Out of the 6,598 starting field those finishing from 666 to 595 received the minimum pay-out of $19,227. However, four players exited simultaneously in 666th place to receive $4,806 apiece.
Some of the notable names cashing high up at this year’s Main Event included 2011 finalist Sam Holden in 55th ($128,384), David ODB Baker in 56th ($128,384), Vanessa Selbst in 73rd ($88,070), Marcel Luske in 102nd ($52,718), 2010 finalist Joseph Cheong in 116th ($52,718), Sorel Mizzi in 151st ($52,718), and Daniel Negreanu in 160th ($52,718).
The 2012 WSOP Main Event proved a break-out year for the ladies, who threatened to reach a final table for the first time since Barbera Enright in 1995. Unfortunately, they fell just short with Norway’s Elisabeth Hille finishing in 11th ($590,442) and France’s Gaelle Baumann in 10th ($590,442).
Finally, here are the final 50 finishing positions at the WSOP 2012 Main Event:

Day 41 of the 2019 World Series of Poker will be another exciting one with four events in motion including two new ones getting underway in the $3,000 Limit Hold'em and the Final Fifty No-Limit Hold'em, which features a huge $50,000 buy-in.
The Main Event continues along with Julian Milliard (lead photo) leading the almost 2,900 survivors to start Day 3. In addition, the Little One for One Drop also will attract many players with the third and final opening flight kicking off today.
Here's what's on tap today, in the daily What to Watch For on PokerNews, sponsored by 888poker.
Event #73: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - World Championship
The Main Event became the second biggest of all time when the field grew with 344 late registrants before the start of yesterday's Day 2c. That made for a total of 8,569 entrants to create a monstrous $80,548,600 prize pool and a $10 million first-place prize. This is only behind the turnout of 8,773 entrants in 2006 when Jamie Gold won the $12 million top prize.
The field is down to 2,880 players with 1,087 surviving on Day 2ab and another 1,793 bagging chips on Day 2c.
The action resumes today with Day 3 starting at noon PDT with five more blind levels of two hours each starting at 1,200/2,400 and a big blind ante of 2,400. It is possible that players will be in the money by the end of the day with 1,286 players guaranteed at least a min-cash of $15,000 but first level of Day 4 is just as likely.
The top five chip stacks entering the day all came out of the Day 2c field with Julian Milliard (947,900), Vlastimil Pustina (930,700), Andrew Brokos (895,400), Aleksa Pavicevic (867,700), and Nai Hu (798,300) all bagging big stacks. Just behind this group is Day 2ab chip leader Timothy Su with 791,000 in chips.

Event #75: $1,000+111 Little One for One Drop No-Limit Hold'em
This event kicks off the final of its three opening flights today at noon PDT with players starting with 20,000 in chips. Players have the option of adding another 20,000 with a $111 donation to the One Drop Foundation, an international non-profit organization founded by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté that has been providing access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene since 2007.
Yesterday's Day 1b field size of 1,537 entrants more than doubled the 702 entrants from Day 1a to create a total field size of 2,239 thus far. This number will grow in leaps and bounds with unlimited reentries not only allowed throughout the ten blind levels of an hour each today, but also during the first two blind levels of tomorrow's Day 2.
Thus far, Stefan Ivanov has the chip lead with 613,000 in chips after bagging a monster stack yesterday followed by Hophuong Lay (591,000), Joris Ruijs (557,000), David Lolis (524,000), and Amit Zulkowitz (518,000).

Event #77: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed
It won't be just no-limit hold'em featured today as this limit event kicks off the first of its four days today.
The action begins today at 3 p.m. PDT with players starting with 20,000 in chips and will end after ten blind levels of an hour each are in the books. Players can late register for this event until the start of Level 9 at around midnight.
Surviving players are scheduled to battle for three more days until a winner is crowned on July 11.
Yaser Al-Keliddar won his first bracelet in this last year which came with a $154,338 top prize after finishing on top of a field of 221 entrants and denying Finnish poker legend Juha Helppi (second - $95,380) his first bracelet. Helppi managed to get a bracelet this year when he won the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship for $306,622.

Event #90: Final Fifty No-Limit Hold'em
You may notice a jump in event numbers here with this $50,000 buy-in event listed as Event #90. This is because this event is a late addition to the schedule with organizers originally planning for 89 bracelet events. This event was added in early June after the WSOP received some feedback from the high roller community.
'We got some feedback from players who thought [the initial $50k event] was too early in the series and they weren’t around for it,' said VP of Corporate Communications Seth Palansky. 'We also goofed by not having a $25K High Roller NLH on the schedule this year, which was more feedback we received from players.'
The action begins at 6 p.m. PDT with players starting with 300,000 in chips and 40-minute blinds starting at 1,000/1,000 and a big blind ante of 1,000. The action should move along fast with this event including a shot clock.
The day will end after twelve blind levels are played. The final field size and prize pool won't be known until the start of tomorrow's Day 2 at 4 p.m. PDT with late registration and unlimited reentries remaining open until then.
